Gas and Bloating Remedies

Gas, flatulence and bloating can be very uncomfortable and not to mention embarrassing. It can make you feel sluggish and unattractive but fortunately there are some remedies that you can try. It is a problem that affects everyone at some point of another but because there are several causes it can often be difficult to know where to start to alleviate the discomfort.

Firstly it is important to determine the cause and whether it is to do with eating or with drinking. Bloating can often be caused by things in our diet. For example, if a person has a high salt intake or eats lots of gas-producing foods such as leafy vegetable and beans. For some people diary products can be a trigger. Lactose is an ingredient that our body isn't necessarily engineered to digest therefore it is not properly absorbed into the body and may cause bloating and gas. Some people are completely lactose intolerant and therefore should avoid dairy products completely. If you suspect you are one of these people then you should remove dairy products from your diet completely and see if the situation improves at all. You should also visit your doctor to get the problem properly diagnosed. Also, certain fruits and vegetables, especially when raw cannot be digested completely by the body and this feeds bacteria which results in an increase in gas. So sometimes it is the food that cannot be digested that is the culprit.

As well as the sorts of food you eat causing problems, the way that you eat can also have an impact on the function of your digestive system. Talking whilst chewing your food can result in bloating. Carbohydrate digestion begins in the mouth so it is important that food is chewed properly. Eating too fast is also a culprit.

Aside from food and drink consumption, another reason for bloating and gas can be that some people simply swallow air. They are unaware of this and it is usually anxiety-related. This condition is called aerophagia.

Once you have determined the cause of your bloating and gas then you can start to try remedies to relive your discomfort. Some natural remedies for bloating include ginger tea, peppermint tea, clove oil, eucalyptus oil and probiotics. If you are prone to bloating and gas you should avoid skipping meals and drink plenty of water and avoid carbonated drinks, chewing gum and highly spiced foods.

Women are more prone to the discomforts of bloating as it can often be linked to the menstrual cycle and the level of hormones. But if the bloating is more persistent than this then it could be a sign of intestinal blockage. For women suffering with persistent bloating rather than cyclical it may also be due to an ovarian cyst or uterine fibroid. If none of the natural remedies mentioned above fail to ease your discomfort then you should contact your doctor who will be able to give you more information on your condition.

In most cases bloating and gas is caused by the digestive system is overloaded with foods that the body is not able to process. You should look to avoid these types of food to eliminate the problem of bloating. It is important to remember that this condition is one that is experienced by most people at some point in their lives. The trick is to learn what your personal trigger is and to avoid it.

Align Probiotic Can Reduce Gas and Bloating

Align probiotic has helped many people who suffer from IBS, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal discomfort, gas and bloating.

Our gastrointestinal tract has to be able to tolerate dietary antigens (foods that stimulate us to produce antibodies) and the natural microflora living within us, yet at the same time it must be able to recognise when it is under attack by bad bacteria.

Little wonder if sometimes it makes mistakes and over reacts to things that are harmless causing the familiar symptoms of IBS such as gas and bloating.

The bacteria in Align - Bifidobacterium infantis 35624 - has an anti-inflammatory effect which soothes your intestines.  If you suffer from any of those symptoms then Align probiotic could be the right supplement for you.

The Align daily probiotic supplement is not a laxative but rather works by restoring your gastrointestinal tract back to its proper functioning.  The good bacteria within Align affects the immune cells in the intestinal tract so that they respond properly to the bad bacteria they meet in the gut.  You can see how that would immediately reduce painful and embarrassing symptoms.

People respond at different speeds when they start taking Align probiotic so don't despair if you don't notice any improvement immediately.

A few people will notice an improvement within a few days, but for most people it will take several weeks.  For a few, it may take up to 2 months before you begin to feel better.  If that is the case it would be worth experimenting with other probiotics and dosage.

Some people have what is called a herx reaction.  This is the ol' "you've gotta feel worse before you get to feel better" syndrome.  So you might develop worse flatulence, bloating or loose bowel movements - even flu-like symptoms.  These symptoms will pass but if they're very troublesome, reduce the amount you're taking.

Align is formulated to be stable at room temperature so you don't need to refrigerate it which makes it very suitable for taking when travelling.  This probiotic is one of the lactic acid producing bacteria so, not only is it lactose free, but it is able to digest lactose.

However milk proteins are added during manufacture so it should not be taken by people with milk allergies.  (Lactose intolerance and milk allergies are two quite separate things.)

Many people have found Align probiotic helpful in reducing or eliminating the gas and bloating caused by IBS.
